The 6th Consultation Forum of LIFE RE-WEEE project was successfully held on the 24th of October 2019 at the Royal Olympic Hotel, in Athens. The Forum was co-organized with the 2nd workshop of LIFE MATHER project (Full material and chemical monitoring data and disclosure for the protection of the human health and environment – LIFE16/ENV/IT/000211), with the title: “ICT Applications for Monitoring Electrical & Electronic Appliances Environmental Friendly & Sustainable Life Cycle”. The partnership of the project consists of the Whirlpool company, the coordinating beneficiary, the t2i – Technology Transfer and Innovation company and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
The Forum was attended by 15 bodies and organizations related to the EEE manufacture, the management, preparing for re-use and WEEE treatment, and research centers as well. The Monitoring Team (NEEMO EEIG - Prospect C&S) of LIFE RE-WEEE will also attend the Forum.
The aim of the 6th Consultation Forum was the presentation and the analysis of the data collected by the two Sorting Centers (SCs) operation till today, and a detailed presentation of the donation/exchange platform Re(W)eee. A round table among the participants was held during the event, on the difficulties and the challenges faced by the “non-readiness” of citizens in Greece in purchasing reusable or second-hand equipment from the SCs and platform respectively, as well as on the actions taken to promote a culture of both prevention and re-use addressed to public and stakeholders.
